The Ministry of Youth and Sport is a government institution responsible for addressing the concerns and aspirations of young people, as well as developing, promoting and extending the practice of physical and sporting activities in accordance with the government's general policy.
The Fédération Algérienne Sport et Travail manages its activities autonomously and carries out the public service mission in its disciplines in accordance with the laws and regulations in force and the missions entrusted to it by the Minister responsible for sport within the framework of national sports policy and the regulations set by the international federation to which it is affiliated. The Algerian Federation of Sport and Work provides physical, sports and leisure activities in all sectors of work for the benefit of workers.
As such, it is responsible for :

- Working to promote, generalise and develop physical education and sports for the benefit of as many workers as possible, without pursuing a profit-making aim.
- Organising, leading and coordinating physical education and sports for the benefit of its members and licensees.
To carry out its activities throughout the national territory and to coordinate wilaya activities. - Maintain and develop relations with international sporting bodies related to its field of activity.
Ensure compliance with all regulations adopted by the General Assembly. - Contribute to the establishment of conditions favouring the promotion of sport in the world of work and business.
- To organise and take part in sporting events, conferences, congresses and national and international study days,
- To contribute to the propagation and safeguarding of sporting ethics.
